Oculus Start Introduction
Public Program Description
Oculus Start is aimed at providing access, community, and support to qualifying XR developers. This program helps offload some of the development costs of qualified developers so that they can focus on what's really important - creating amazing applications. Creativity isn't the barrier. Resources shouldn't be either. If your first app is underway, we can help you optimize for more success in this project and your next. Just as we're scaling XR through our devices, we're scaling support to the developer ecosystem.
Last year, Oculus Start kicked off our first MR Incubation Program. The goal was, and remains, to accelerate mixed reality content development from Start developers. We accomplished this through both funded and unfunded means, encouraging devs to create new bespoke apps or add MR to their existing apps. Through a proposal submission process, we awarded grants to over 40 selected Start members. Throughout the course of the program, developers in the cohort were given access to an exclusive support channel, Q&As with Meta staff, and both peer and Meta staff playtesting feedback.
